Men's Sport Climbing Finals

My first time rock climbing was when I was living in France in the summer of 2020. I quickly fell in love, having always enjoyed climbing trees and scrambling over rocks. It was like discovering a sport that connected me with my childhood self. For the first month, I climbed wearing basketball shoes, as I had no climbing shoes of my own. When I moved back to the US, it wasn't until a couple years later that I started climbing consistently, joining a gym and finding a community. Watching the best climbers in the world compete in Paris, sticking impossible boulder problems and ascending the lead wall, was a thing of beauty I will never forget.

"My comfort zone is like a little bubble around me, and I’ve pushed it in different directions and made it bigger and bigger until these objectives that seemed totally crazy eventually fall within the realm of the possible."
