AUSTRALIA
I've longed considered the flying fox to be my spirit animal. They are misunderstood creatures of the night. My first evening in Australia, I head tears in my eyes as I watched from the Brisbane hostel the dark silhouettes of the giant fruit bats flying across the darkening sky. A year later, I joined a bat rescue organization, and had the privilege of meeting the winged puppies up close and personal, even holding one in my arms. They are my favorite part about his country, and whenever I see them, they put a smile on my face and glimmer of magic in the cockles of my heart.
